About Madison

I came to therapy many moons ago in my youth, as I tried to sort out my life and find meaning. Between art and psychotherapy, I credit both of them, to not only saving my life, but allowing me to learn to live authentically, embracing life so I may recieve so many of its gifts.

I am Queer and Neurodivergent and live my life, with my partner of 26 years. I work with LGBTQIA+ clients, Neurodivergent clients, and anyone regardless of race, sexuality or gender who wants to make change. I truly enjoy working with other creatives and all folx from many walks of life.

I have especially enjoyed working relationally and helping those coping with dysphoria and PTSD. I also work with anxiety, loss, and depression. So whether you are embarking on a career change, or experiencing emotions you need help understanding, I will follow your lead and together we can walk down the path collaboratively towards healing.

Before getting my BA in Clinical Psychology and my Masters Degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Antioch University New England, I worked in Special Education in Los Angeles for about 16 years.

My theoretical background is Psychodynamic psychotherapies such as Gestalt, Jung and Object Relations. I also studied to be An Art Therapy Practitioner in Victoria, Canada. In addition I have a background in the arts and I enjoy combining counseling with creative modalities and believe they can work well together as an adjunct to talk therapy.

I am eclectic, and thoughtful as a practitioner, pulling from theories that seem to be the best fit for and most supportive of my clients.
I am always person-centered and use cognitive modalities as called for.  Should you want to use creative modalities as part of our individual work, it is always available for the asking. It is never required.

Thoughts on Therapy

It is my experience that change and healing develop within the bounds of a safe, trusted, ethical, and healthy
therapeutic relationship. I am here to listen, collaborate, & hold space for you as part of this journey. When you are ready, I can help you take back your power, build resiliency and remove roadblocks that are getting in the way. If you are someone who seeks equilibrium, safety, inner strength and peace of mind, I can help.

Maybe you thought you knew how to get on that road by yourself, but have recently experienced times of difficulty, moving you away from where you want to be internally or relationally. When you are ready to engage in delving more deeply into yourself, Therapy can help you reach your goals. It can help you refine your communication skills, and teach you new ones. You will learn to face your feelings, and embrace them, and learn to move through them in a safe space that is completely yours.

Through therapy you will get a better sense of who you are, and who you want to be in the world. This is what therapy offers when you do the work. I collaborate with clients and together we set the pace of your personal growth by developing a personalized treatment plan. My work is always a collaboration and requires both of our participation.

Our work together will be creative, integrative and mindful. Our sessions could include talk therapy, therapeutic art, dreamwork, shadow- play, or mindful and sensory awareness.

So how do I pay for sessions?

All sessions are either paid out of pocket, or billed to OHP. That means if you are OOP or OON, you will be paying for the session at the time of service. For Cash Pay clients, before our first session, you will receive a text message from IvyPay asking you to input your payment information by clicking the link provided.

Please do this before the session starts so we can troubleshoot if there are any issues. IvyPay is secure and HIPAA compliant. After this, the I will be able to charge for payment each morning before our appointment, and you will receive a text message letting you know the session has been paid for. You will leave a card on file. The card will be charged automatically on the day of your sessions between 7am-9am PT. This is done so we will know if there are any issues with payment that we need to discuss at the beginning of our session.

If you cancel a session within the cancelation window (no less than 24hrs before your scheduled session) then the payment will not be charged for that session. If you do NOT cancel before 24hrs, then your card will be charged for the full session fee at the same time as all other client payments for that day.

If you have OHP you will not be charged but I do ask for the same 24hour notice as a courtesy.

What about emergencies? Will I still be charged the full fee if I can’t cancel on time?

Things come up in everyones lives that are unexpected and cannot be adequately planned for. I provide all clients with one freebie cancelation to be used at your first late cancel or no-show. All other cancelations will be charged the full fee.

If you are Out of Network I can provide you an invoice monthly that you may submit to you Insurer for reimbursement.
